Casati is an Italian bicycle brand founded in the early 1900s by Giovanni Casati. The company is known for producing high quality racing and road bicycles that combine traditional Italian craftsmanship with modern technology and innovation. Casati bikes are hand built in Italy using only the finest materials such as lightweight carbon fiber, aerospace grade titanium and high strength steel alloys. Each bike is built to order and tailored to the rider's specific requirements to ensure a perfect fit and optimal performance. Even today, Casati bikes are highly sought after by cycling enthusiasts and collectors who appreciate the combination of style, performance and tradition. Although the brand has undergone some changes over the years, it remains a leading name in the world of cycling and its commitment to quality and innovation continues to inspire cyclists around the world.
While the Casati Gold Line is nowadays associated with a lightweight carbon fiber frame, the brand has also produced steel frame versions of this model in the past. Casati Gold Line steel frames are known for their high quality and precision in manufacturing. The frame is made from hand-crafted steel tubes that are carefully assembled to create a stiff and robust frame. These tubes are often made from high-quality, seamless Columbus SLX or Reynolds 853 steel. Overall, the Casati Gold Line steel frame offers a combination of traditional craftsmanship, durability, stability, and riding comfort. Although steel frames have become less common these days, they remain popular with many cycling enthusiasts due to their unique features and timeless appearance.
The Campagnolo Super Record groupset was the ultimate derailleur of its time. All sorts of strange claims were made: the aluminum was some kind of super special alloy, the black anodizing was some kind of super special coating, etc. The truth is a little more banal. The aluminum used is exactly the same alloy that was used on the Nuovo Record. The black anodizing is - wait for it - black anodized.
The real technical differences were the use of exotic material for the two large Allen bolts and a larger "flange" on the pulley cage. The derailleur feels good in the hand, has a timeless look and feels valuable simply because it was once so absurdly expensive. It's hard to define what makes a classic, but whatever it is, the Campagnolo Super Record has done the job.
