Bernard Carre was a legendary frame builder, born in the town of Montreuil and based on the eastern outskirts of Paris. His work was well known due to his successful clients such as Anquetil, Geminiani and Anglade. He was a prolific builder with the ability to produce frames quickly and to a tried and tested recipe. His off-the-shelf frames were perfectly crafted and designed and built for the road, they rode and still ride very well today... his personal, bespoke frames are rarer and show more attention to detail and finish. Carre left his trademark - his name - on many of his frames. Carre had a long career, some say he was building as early as the 40s, and it seems he was still making frames in the late 80s.
